Elegant bohemian, family-centred, and all in the detail. Lucy + John married at one of my favourite wedding venues, with a day filled with quirk and fun. The garden celebration was a perfect fit for this couple, who wanted a wedding that could be enjoyed by friends, family, and fifty little ones.
The wedding party spent their weekend at Voewood, an extraordinary, butterfly-shaped Arts and Crafts style house near Holt in North Norfolk. Friends and family were on hand to prepare the gardens for the outdoor ceremony, and the house's staircases and secret passageways made the perfect setting for games of "zombie hide-and-seek"... While the kids played, the ladies prepared in Voewood's beautiful pink-retro suite. At 11am, guests gathered on the lawn for a sweet and simple ceremony - and the best men were on hand with umbrellas when the heavens opened! After signing their papers in the music room, and avoiding the worst of the deluge, husband and wife joined their loved ones for drinks under the marquee, and the skies soon brightened for an afternoon of garden games. While the men enjoyed cigars and croquet in the kitchen garden, Lucy and her dad made good on an old promise and took a spin the family Volvo - and I got a go on the bouncy castle.
Thanks to the folks at Florentina for a delicious meal (and soaked heroics during that downpour!), and those at Voewood for showing me around. Special thanks to Margo (for all that smiling), Teddy (for being my excellent assistant), and of course Lucy and John, for having me do what I do at your very wonderful day.
